Heather Archer Hoefle grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana. She earned her bachelor's degree in Flute Performance and Audio Technology from Indiana University in Bloomington, her teaching certification from DePaul University in Chicago, and her Master's Degree in Music Education from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago. Heather currently resides in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Her 30-year career as a band director has included experience in a variety of settings, from the small towns of Orangeville and Byron, Illinois, to Rockford, Illinois and currently in the southern suburbs of Chicago. The majority of her experience has been with beginning and middle school bands.
Heather's composition career came out of a desire to produce music for her own students. Much of her work has met the printing press after being vetted by her own bands. Her deep understanding of pedagogy coupled with a fresh creative voice results in music that is loved by students everywhere. She has pieces published by Kjos Music Company, and is currently working with Robert W. Smith, publishing with RWS Music Company. As a recently retired band director, she fulfills commissions and works as a clinician throughout the country.
Heather currently lives in Wilmington, North Carolina with her husband, alpha dog and beta cat.
